Welcome to Claire Crampton Therapy and Training

Counselling for Neurodivergent Young People and Adults

Welcome.

I am a BACP accredited therapist based near Hook, Hampshire within easy reach of Basingstoke, Alton, Farnham, Farnborough and Aldershot. Online counselling is available to clients throughout the UK.

I commonly support teenagers struggling with emotional based school avoidance or attendance challenges.

Adult clients often come when they are finding study/ working life challenging or relationships difficult.

Exploring identity and your childhood is welcome and we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I welcome diversity, including all sexualities, genders, and relationship types.

About me

I have been a therapist since 2013 supporting young people (aged over 11) and adults who are neurodivergent.

Since qualifying, I have been passionate to learn more about how differently all of our brains work and what different life experiences this brings.

In addition to my Counselling BA (Hons) and Children and Adolescent Counselling Diploma, I completed a Post Graduate Diploma from King's College in Applied Neuroscience.

These are alongside other trainings I have completed which are focussed on the different ways neurodivergence effects our shared experience of being human.

I often work with clients who are Autistic or have ADHD to help them better understand themselves or challenging experiences they or are having.

We also explore upcoming events that are causing fear, anxiety or avoidance.

Living with biological/ neurological differences can impact on people's ability to thrive in a neurotypical society.

  • Do you feel how your brain works is affecting your enjoyment of life?
  • Are you are misunderstood in relationships?
  • Does neurodiversity causes communication challenges?

You do not need to have a diagnosis, or for this to be the focus of our work together.

I work with people from varied backgrounds and with different neurological conditions, attending therapy to explore a diverse range of problems.

Some examples of neurodiversity in clients attending therapy include; Autism, ADHD, Dyscalculia, Tourette's Syndrome and Dyslexia.

It is very common for neurodivergence to cross over with mental health challenges such as anxiety and/ or depression.

Exploration around client's gender and sexuality are also very normal and welcome in therapy.

It can be surprising for people to realise that counselling is an unregulated profession. This means there is no minimum training limit to reach before calling yourself a therapist or counsellor. There are however membership bodies who have application processes to look into this and […]
Neurodiversity Week March 17th- 23rd.
Neurodiversity celebration week brings a spotlight to the differences that neurodivergent people have. Often these differences are viewed through the lens of a neurotypical society and therefore seen as wrong or disabling. Equally often this is what brings clients to counselling, their perceived 'wrongness'. They may have been told throughout their lives they are 'weird', […]
