Counselling for Neurodivergent Young People and Adults
Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Claire and I am a therapist based near Hook, Hampshire within easy reach of Basingstoke, Alton, Farnham, Farnborough and Aldershot. Online counselling is available to clients throughout the UK. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Registered Member.
About
I have been a therapist for 11 years supporting young people (aged over 11) and adults who are neurodivergent.
Since qualifying, I have been passionate to learn more about how differently all of our brains work and what different life experiences this brings.
In addition to my Counselling BA (Hons) I completed a Post Graduate Diploma from King's College in Applied Neuroscience, these are in addition to the many other trainings I have completed which are therapy focussed or specific to different forms of neurodivergence.
I often work with undiagnosed clients who are Autistic or have ADHD traits to help them better understand themselves or challenging experiences they have had or are upcoming.
Living with biological/ neurological differences can impact on people's ability to thrive in a neurotypical society.
If you feel how your brain works is affecting your enjoyment of life, if you are misunderstood in relationships or if neurodiversity causes communication challenges, please get in contact.
You do not need to have a diagnosis, or for this to be the focus for us to work together.
I work with people from varied backgrounds and with different neurological conditions, attending therapy to explore a diverse range of problems.
Some examples of neurodiversity in clients attending therapy include: Autism, ADHD, Dyscalculia, Tourette's Syndrome and Dyslexia.
It is very common for neurodivergence to cross over with mental health challenges such as anxiety and Depression.
Exploration around client's gender and sexuality are also very normal and welcome in therapy.
If you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment I will get back to you as soon as possible.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours (weekdays), and all contact is strictly confidential.
After the initial consultation counselling sessions last 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis, and cost £65 per session.
Please contact me for my current availability. I offer sessions weekday daytimes and evenings.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how I work, or to arrange an appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
All contact is strictly confidential.
